Vladimir Okhotnikov: the synthesis of GameFi and RWA will help build Metaverse 2.0

Vladimir Okhotnikov: GameFi and Real World Assets (RWA) Set the Trend for 2024-25

Vladimir Okhotnikov is an expert in DeFi and blockchain, crypto enthusiast, and libertarian. He is an independent financial analyst whose forecasts are largely consistent with others in the industry. In his new article Vladimir talks about what qualities a GameFi startup should have in order to bring good profits to investors.

Vladimir believes that any successful GameFi project should be based on effective tokenomics. Even if a game has great gameplay and great graphics, the lack of a well-thought-out RWA strategy can be fatal, especially in a bear market.

A striking example of such a collapse is the game CryptantCrab, which peaked in popularity in 2019. The startup failed due to a jump in gas prices: the sharply increased prices of transactions on the Ethereum network forever alienated many players from a seemingly interesting project.

The metaverse in which one wants to live, play and earn money must fully embody the entire range of play-to-earn technologies. Such a successful ecosystem is built on a transparent blockchain, and any user can exchange its native tokens for real things,” believes Vladimir Okhotnikov.

Without the implementation of this principle, the project will be doomed to failure. In addition, the player must have the opportunity to monetize his gaming experience, and according to clear and understandable rules. According to Vladimir, well-built RWA technology is an indispensable key to the success of an ecosystem that claims to be the new Decentraland, Sandbox or Axie Infinity.

VR glasses and augmented reality (AR) are other attributes of the new generation metaverse. They should provide a person with complete immersion in the gaming space.

According to Vladimir’s estimates, by 2030 the capitalization of the NFT and RWA market could reach $10 trillion. One of the harbingers of the coming rush is the gradual adoption by the European Union of the MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets) law, which will fully come into force at the end of 2024. This law will create a solid legal basis for the entire cryptocurrency industry, after which money from large investors will flow into it.

The integration of real assets into the virtual space is a process whose significance cannot be overestimated. Vladimir reinforces his story about the merits of the new technology with a specific example:

“…In the past, it took months to buy a house: you had to wait a long time until all the paperwork was finally completed and the rights were finally transferred. RWA technology will allow such transactions to be carried out within minutes…”

According to the expert, the synthesis of NTF and RWA opens up enormous opportunities for the GameFi industry. Those development teams that are able to implement these technologies within a metaverse with rich gameplay and a well-thought-out play-to-earn system will soon occupy prize niches in the gaming industry market.
