This is a full-time, 12-month, fixed term professional faculty position. The primary duties are to recruit for and advise Ecampus and campus-based students about the OSU Sustainability Double Degree Program. Although administratively housed in our College of Ag Sciences, the double degree program includes much more than environmental aspects of sustainability. It has been a close partner with the Sustainability Office, Center for Civic Engagement, Campus Recycling, University Housing and Dining Services, Transportation Services and other sustainability practitioners as we become an institution more focused on experiential and service learning, and social justice.

Position Duties
65% Recruiting/Advising
-Serve as the SDD Program’s primary advisor for both Ecampus and on-campus students. (49% ECampus, 11% on-campus, 5% general)
-Help students match their personal strengths and interests with opportunities within the University curriculum in general and within the SDD Program in particular; assess previous course work relative to degree requirements; advise on course selection and timelines; carry-out degree audits; and help students overcome issues that hinder their academic performance.
-Maintain accurate student records and conduct preliminary audits for students approaching graduation, using My Degrees and Banner.
-Collaborate with the College of Agricultural Sciences Head Advisor and Committee of Lead Advisors to ensure consistency of best practices across college programs.
-Coordinate with Ecampus Enrollment Services and Marketing on recruitment and outreach to distance students, and with the Ecampus Student Success to support distance students in academic distress.
-Guide students though shared intentional and integrative experiences informed by collaborative best practices for first year student success. It is necessary to have knowledge of, commitment to, and participation in Oregon State University’s first year academic advising program.
– Design, maintain and/or carry out program activities to ensure that all people have equal employment opportunities and equal program participation opportunities regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, genetic information, national origin, age, marital status, disability, or veteran’s status.
-Write letters of recommendation for students enrolled in or graduating from the SDD Program as requested.
-Coordinate SDD Program communication with students via information technologies, such as program web pages, Canvas, Google Apps, Box, blogs, wikis, and mobile apps, email, webinars, Facebook, and written materials.
-Serve as the SDD Program’s primary recruiter.
-Serve as the SDD Program’s primary marketer, including outreach to, and partnership with, other OSU advisors and academic programs.
-Represent the SDD Program at summer term START and PREVIEW sessions.
-Develop and produce communication and recruitment materials for the SDD Program including web pages, digital materials, posters, display, brochures, and other written materials.
30% Instructional Support
-Assist in grading assignments for one or more SDD courses in each of the four school terms.
-In concert with the SDD Program Director and Program faculty, assist in monitoring and assessing SDD curriculum for alignment with OSU and SDD strategic plans and to meet current and future SDD and university learning outcomes. Participate in program assessment reporting to CAS and OSU.
-Attend and participate in professional development meetings, conferences, and seminars to gain ideas for program improvement and to promote programs.
5% Service
-Serve on department, college, and university committees as appropriate.
-Maintain active membership and involvement in professional organizations.
Minimum/Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with demonstrated academic, professional, or volunteer experience in sustainability education, outreach, planning, recruiting, marketing, or assessment.
Demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity and to work with underrepresented/ underserved students.
Demonstrated ability to exercise sufficient discretion to manage confidential information.
Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
Record of written and verbal communication skills, including active listening and responsiveness to requests
Must have demonstrable computer skills in particular Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe products, web browsers and CMS such as Drupal.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OAR 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 24 months.
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
Master’s degree in a natural or social science field, with coursework or experience related to sustainability
Work-related life experience, education, or training that broadens capacity to equalize student success or impact underserved audiences.
Experience in undergraduate student advising, student activities programming, or counseling in a college or university.
Multiple years academic, professional, or volunteer experience in recruiting and marketing.
Multiple years academic, professional, or volunteer experience in sustainability education, outreach, planning, and/or assessment.
Experience working on social media and other forms of communication technology.
Understanding of university policies, procedures and resources.
A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
