Even for those of us who really try to reduce waste in our lives, stuff comes along from time to time that is just hard to find a place to recycle. What do you do with old mattresses? It’s not too often that most people have to deal with this.
But OSU’s University Housing & Dining Services has a semi-regular stream of used mattresses to deal with. What do they do? They’ve found a couple of outlets. One is the Washington State Department of Corrections with their new mattress recycling program. Another, suggested by OSU Campus Recycling, is a Portland company: Environmentally Conscious Recycling.
It’s good to know there are multiple outlets for odds and ends. Another great resource for the Corvallis community is The ReUse Directory. Check it out!

This is fantastic information for my readers! Many of us don’t know what to do with old mattresses.
Thanks for linking to the reuse guide. It’s such a great resource for our community, and will prove especially useful at the end of the academic year when students are moving and have items they no longer need.
