Riley Creek School Garden’s annual Strawberry Festival was held June 8th. Around 200 students came between 9:00 and 11:00. It was fast and furious for those two hours!
The kids had different activities starting with an ever-popular serving of strawberry shortcake. There was also face painting, block printing bugs, leaves and flowers; and a garden scavenger hunt. Finally, kids wandered the gardens picking and eating strawberries and peas.
Even though it threatened rain, it was mostly dry and the kids absolutely loved being in the garden. Master Gardener volunteers have made a beautiful space for students to enjoy and learn about gardens. A special thank you to Lori Phelan, Laura Lee Cundiff, Jerry Herbage, Steve Myers and Dennis Regan for their year-round work at Riley Creek.
