Spring is here, and, if you are planting vegetables like tomatoes, squash and peppers, it’s time to monitor the soil temperature looking for a consistent 70 degrees. By mid-May summer flowers like dahlias can also be planted.

In addition, this is the time of year to fertilize many plants and pest monitoring/management needs to be taken seriously to get the upper hand. Per OSU’s advice: Practice preventive pest management rather than reactive pest control. Identify and monitor problems before acting, and opt for the least toxic approach.

These links contain helpful tips for spring gardening, pest monitoring and management, and timing for many plantings.
