Position Title: Healthy Communities Program Intern

Classification: Paid Intern (range: $15.07/hour (undergraduate) – $17.26/hour (graduate)

Work period: 16-20 hours per week. Spring 2024 to Fall 2024 (preferrably May 1, 2024 – Dec 31, 2024

Department: Benton County Health Department

POSITION SUMMARY: This position will be responsible for assisting the Healthy Communities Team with duties related to administration and implementation of the Tobacco Prevention & Education Program (TPEP), Alcohol and other Drug Prevention & Education Program (ADPEP), as well as other Healthy Communities program areas.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THIS POSITION: These examples do not include all the specific tasks that an employee may be expected to perform with or without accommodation.

  1. Major Functional Areas
    Assist with planning, implementation, and data collection for TPEP and ADPEP training support, with special emphasis on supporting the annual Retailer Training for alcohol, tobacco, and cannabis retailers.
    Tasks include:
    a. Review and collect previous years’ materials and resources;
    b. Plan event/training details and materials
    c. Attend/help with logistics of events/trainings
    d. Support community outreach and engagement and strategizing promotion, tabling, social media, including communication with community organizations, retail businesses and community members.
    e. Support program evaluation initiatives (tracking, monitoring, etc.)
  2. Major Functional Area: Other Related Duties
    Attend meetings in the community with community partners as they relate to the Tobacco Prevention & Education Program, Alcohol, and other Drug Prevention & Education Program, and other Healthy Communities program areas.
    Participate in all Healthy Communities Team activities and projects as assigned. Examples include: support with outreach events, support with county, community trainings, and related events.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be enrolled in an approved educational institution pursing a Bachelor’s or Masters’s degree in Public Administration, Prevention Studies, Behavioral Health, Public Policy, Public Health/Health Promotion, Community Relations, Human Development and Family Sciences, or other related field. Students who have already met internship requirements are also encouraged to apply.
