Friends of the Children Summer Research Internship

The Duncan & Cindy Campbell Foundation endow the Campbell Risk and Resilience Seminar Series in the Hallie E. Ford Center for Healthy Children and Families, within the College of Health at OSU.  The endowment also supports a paid summer internship at Friends of the Children for a COH graduate student. Friends of the Children is a national nonprofit organization that selects youth -all of whom have unique talents, interests and dreams, and face multiple systemic obstacles – to be paired with a paid, professional mentor called a Friend. Further information can be found at https://friendsofthechildren.org/ 

  

Summer 2024 internship responsibilities may include: 

  • Lead the facilitation/analyses of the national alumni survey, manage survey data, and incorporate prior survey results. 
  • Assist with implementation and analyses of data from the Friends of the Children annual assessments. 
  • Provide administrative assistance for summer activities to professional researchers implementing a longitudinal study on mentoring, as needed.  
  • Other projects of interest and/or mutual benefit.  

The ideal intern will: 

  • Have knowledge of and a scholarly interest in child and youth development. 
  • Have a proven capacity for self-motivated, detail-oriented, independent work. 
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Work remotely. 
  • Preference will be given to a PhD student. 
  • Students must be OSU students. 

  

Details:  The internship is half-time (20 hours/week) between July 1st and September 1st, paid at a competitive hourly rate dependent on graduate status. Schedule is flexible and work will be primarily remote unless the intern prefers otherwise. The intern will report directly to Erin Wellington, Quality Assurance and Evaluation Analyst in the FOTC National Office.  At the end of the placement, the intern will be responsible for submitting a report detailing their experience.
