Hello, world! I’m Cat, a passionate coder, tech enthusiast, and proud cat parent. I’m currently pursuing a Computer Science degree at Oregon State University, where I’m learning the art of code, one line at a time. I started this blog to share my journey into the world of software development, and I’m excited to have you here!
My Journey Into Coding
Despite growing up around technology—my dad is a software developer who tried to teach me to code as soon as I could read—I never imagined that I’d go into computer science myself. I initially went to Weber State University in 2011 planning to earn a degree in Social Work. However, when that didn’t work out, it was time to figure out what I really wanted to do with my life.
I spent most of 2020 teaching myself to code in Python and use frameworks like Flask and Django. When I realized that I would be much better off with a formal education, I applied to Oregon State University. Now, in my 30s, I’m studying computer science through OSU’s eCampus, balancing my studies with life in beautiful Salem, Oregon, where I recently moved with my partner and our cats.
What I’m Up To Now
These days, I’m diving into my senior capstone project, exploring AI technologies and expanding my programming skills. I’m working on putting together my portfolio and learning new technologies as I find myself getting closer to graduation every day.
When I’m not buried in code, I’m probably hanging out with my three fur babies—Meatball Sandwich, Maggie, and Cider—reading, playing video games, or daydreaming about what comes next.
My Goals
Through this blog, I hope to document my journey into the world of software development, share tips and resources, and connect with other aspiring developers. My dream is to build meaningful, user-friendly applications and to eventually work with AI technologies. I also want to give back to the coding community by sharing what I learn along the way, from overcoming challenges to celebrating small wins.
Thanks for stopping by! I’m excited to share this journey with you. Until next time, stay curious and keep coding! 🐾
