Self-reflection

  1. What am I good at? This is kind of a weird question to consider because I don’t really like up-playing my traits. However, I guess I am a really good learner. No matter what it is, be it a new sport or topic, I tend to get the gist of it decently quickly and have an attitude that is able to deal with failure and bounce back from it instead of getting frustrated and giving up.
  2. What do I value? I think that character is a way people communicate without actually saying anything. Having actions that peak to yourself, like fulfilling a promise or working instead of messing around speaks loudly at times and I really value qualities like that in people and want to imitate them myself. Surrounding myself with people I value and character that represents what a good role model to me is key, the destination is irrelevant if you don’t enjoy your company.
  3. How did I get here? I enrolled at community college down in California back when I was working mainly because it felt like a decent time-killer but here I am about to graduate this spring. While I did miss out on the dorms and the “college” experience for the first two (and arguably most “college” vibes) years at OSU, I think I saved a ton of money, having spent basically half a quarter with tuition to get an associate in business before transferring up. It was a unique experience in its own right and going out of state was a great way to broaden my horizon.
  4. Where am I going? This is probably the most abstract of them all, as I don’t have a sure answer. I think it’s less about the geography though, and more about the state of mind. No matter where I may be, I want to be successful in whatever I apply myself in and know that whatever it is I’m doing my best and whatever I can to succeed for the future. I think that applying for as many opportunities s possible can easily play to my strengths as a learner and I can always find hard workers wherever I might be.

  1. Hey Andrew,

Thank you so much for the great blog post this week. This week’s post topic really made us have to look into our past. It is interesting to look at this topic from a different person’s perspective. One part, in particular, that really caught my eye was when you stated that you strongly value character. I agree with this. Character is such a strong factor in what makes a person who there are. And surrounding yourself with individuals with agrees with that idea is a good way to keep yourself on the right path.

Again, thank you so much for the great post this week, and have a great day.
