As a concurrent M.S.-PhD student with the Reimers Lab, I am broadly interested in the cycling of carbon along continental margins, from the air-sea interface to sediments. My M.S. research currently explores the seasonal and spatial variability in benthic metabolism along the Oregon shelf, through the use of sediment incubation experiments and hydrographic data.

My funding is through the Regional Class Research Vessel Project, through which I plan to pursue my PhD. My work with the project currently focuses on the calibration of two of the underway sensors, the Picarro G2401 Gas Analyzer and the Apollo AS-P3 pCO2 sensor. I am specifically interested in the potential role of research vessels in the measurement, reporting, and verification of marine carbon dioxide removal projects, an area I hope to explore in my PhD research.

Research Interests

  • Coastal ocean carbon cycling
  • Remote chemical sensing
  • Benthic biogeochemical cycling
