Adrienne Chan defends her MSci with success!
Congratulations to Adrienne
Welcome to Anna and Zach!
We’re excited to welcome graduate student Anna Hughes and undergraduate research assistant Zachary Rene Luna to the Benthic Biogeochemistry Lab!
Dr. Clare Reimers named TOS Fellow!
Congratulations to Clare on being named a fellow of The Oceanography Society!
“The colleagues, who submitted her nomination, particularly noted her groundbreaking research using oxygen, pH and pCO2 microelectrodes in situ to study sediment geochemistry and microbiology toward a better understanding of redox and carbon dynamics in sediments. They further noted that her work has led to significant new information about benthic fluxes within the global carbon cycle and to seafloor energy harvesting approaches using benthic microbial fuel cells. Together, the impacts of her work have profoundly changed our thinking in marine geology, chemistry and biology including microbiology. Additionally, the nominators noted her dedication to training the next generation of ocean scientists, including the UNOLS-chief scientist training cruises for early career scientists she organized.” – The Oceanography Society
Adrienne Chan Awarded NSF Graduate Research Fellowship
Earlier this month Adrienne Chan learned she has been awarded a prestigious NSF Graduate Research Fellowship. The purpose of the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) is to help ensure the vitality and diversity of the scientific and engineering workforce of the United States. The program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students who are pursuing full-time research-based master’s and doctoral degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) or in STEM education. The GRFP provides three years of support for the graduate education of individuals who have demonstrated their potential for significant research achievements in STEM or STEM education. Congratulations Adrienne!
Dr. Clare Reimers awarded 2019 OSU Distinguished Professor Award!
Today, Clare was awarded one of this year’s Oregon State University Distinguished Professor Awards! Clare, along with endowed professors and other Distinguished Professor Awardees, was honored by the university community throughout the day.
Congrats, Clare!!
