Gallery Eddy covariance lander launching eddy covariance lander for Oregon shelf studies Lander off stern of R/V Oceanus (Above) Images of eddy covariance lander during Oceanus Cruise – May 2018 Image of benthic Microbial Fuel Cell (bMFC) placed over a methane seep on Hydrate Ridge off Oregon. This experiment is examining the coupling between anaerobic methane oxidation and electricity production. The system uses an acoustic modem/power management platform to record bMFC performance, trigger water pumps at methane sensor heads, and to transmit data reports. This project is supported by the Office of Naval Research. Deployment was in June 2019.
