In attendance at the APhA College of Pharmacy Reception was Dr. Benjamin Kong who is currently living in Florida doing a PGY2 Pharmacogenetics residency at University of Florida Health. The UF Health Personalized Medicine Program (PMP) launched in 2012. As a resident, Dr. Kong works to implement pharmacogenetics into clinical pharmacy practice. His responsibilities include clinical tasks such as clinical practice activities within the PMP, evaluating drug literature and biostatistics in pharmacogenetics, developing recommended alternative treatments based on patient genotype, and contributing to peer-reviewed literature.
Dr. Kong coauthored an article for the Fall2013 edition of House Calls. The article discusses the PMP program at UF Health and the strides being made in regards to pharmacogenetics.
