There were many achievements to celebrate this year at the Recognition Banquet on May29th at the CH2M Hill Alumni Center. At the event, students were acknowledged in front of peers and faculty for their hard work over the past academic year
Not only are pharmacy students brilliant in the classroom, they also have many other talents that were showcased at the event. Students from all four classes provided entertainment for the evening including a pianist, fire dancer, vocal quartet accompanied by guitars, Bollywood dancers and even a Chinese lion dance with accompanying drum beats.
The highlight at every Recognition Banquet is the class videos. Each class demonstrated their camera, directorial and editing skills to create videos and slideshows of the 2012-13 academic year. The students raised the bar again this year with their amazing videos.
The P1s paid homage to Michael Jackson with their video “This Is Us: Foundations First Year.” In the P2 video they asked the question, “do you do anything besides study” and the students showed what they like to do when they aren’t nose deep in a textbook. Faculty and staff were included in this video showing what they like to do in their spare time as well. In the P3 slideshow pictures of the students working as well as playing together were shown with students at outreach events, poster presentations, Apothecary Ball, and Portland Trailblazer games. The P4 showed just how much the students had grown from their P1 year showing each student’s ID photo from their first year and then their composite photo taken in their P4 year.
