On a rare sun filled day in February, the College welcomed a visit from alum Linda Banares (Wiley), Class of 2008. Walking through the halls of the Pharmacy building, Linda reminisced about helping to plan the 1st Apothecary Ball, now a student driven tradition of 7 years, and the time she enjoyed in Corvallis.
Currently working as an assistant clinical faculty member at the Touro University College of Pharmacy in Vallejo, California, Linda’s interest in a pharmacy career started early. With two pharmacists for parents, her father a consultant pharmacist with Omnicare and her mother working as a pharmacist for a public health clinic in Portland, Linda grew up in the world of pharmacy.
After graduating from the OSU College of Pharmacy in 2008, she completed 2 years of residency. Her PGY1 was in North Carolina at the Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro where she worked in ambulatory care with a strong inpatient foundation focus. Her second year of residency took her to Parkland Health and Hospital System in Dallas, TX. As a county health organization, Linda had the opportunity to work with a largely minority and underserved patient population.
In her current position at Touro, Linda enjoys precepting 3rd and 4th year pharmacy students at the San Francisco Hospital and engaging in their transition from classroom to rotation. Her specialty is ambulatory care related topics.
