On Friday October 21st, the students of the College of Pharmacy’s chapter of NCPA hosted “Breakin’ Down the MU – Dancing Toward Personal Health” in the Memorial Union Ballroom. The evening kicked off with a health fair where guests were able to get answers to medication questions, write notes of encouragement to local women with breast cancer, and learn more about the Pharmacy profession. Pharmacy students also provided blood glucose screenings, flu shots, and blood pressure readings to those in attendance, including Dean Zabriskie.
The second half of the evening featured a break dance battle showcasing talented dancers from within the OSU community and as far away as Portland. With the DJ calling the match-ups and experienced judges deciding the winners, the competition heated up quickly. In addition to OSU students and faculty, special guests Vince Whiting and Michele Belcher also joined the students of the EC. Mr. Whiting is one of the College’s Icons of Pharmacy and Ms. Belcher is a celebrated alumna; both are graciously volunteering their time and expertise to serve as project advisors to the Pharmacy students involved in the Entrepreneurial Academy this year.
In all, the students of NCPA were able to raise more than $3,000 from this event in addition to the immeasurable value of increasing the profile of the Pharmacy profession across campus and across the region.
