Annual Rising Lecture Series and Research Retreat 2017

Attendees of the 2017 Annual Rising Lecture Series and Research Retreat

Over the weekend of March 24-25th, the 2017 College of Pharmacy Annual Rising Retreat was held at Salishan Spa & Golf Resort in Gleneden Beach, OR.

The retreat was attended by OSU College of Pharmacy Ph.D. students, Pharm.D. students involved in research, postdocs, and their faculty mentors. Fourteen Ph.D. students gave presentations on their research progress.

Keynote speaker at the Annual Rising Retreat, Hendrik Luesch, Ph.D

Keynote speaker, Hendrik Luesch, Ph.D., a Professor and Chair of the Department of Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Florida, spoke on “Marine Biodiversity as a Starting Point for Drug Discovery and Development”.

Students and postdocs also presented posters after dinner on Friday.

Presentation winners received awards for their work. Award Winners included:

Ayers Award for Duc Nguyen from the Alani Lab
Sponenburg Award for Wisam Selman from
the Filtz Lab
and
College of Pharmacy Travel Award for Chin-Ning (Vera) Change from the Kioussi Lab and Xiumei Wan from the Ishmael Lab
