Last weekend, February 27-28, 2016 OSPA held its annual Lane County Mid-Winter CE Seminar at the Eugene Hilton & Conference Center in Eugene, OR. Over the two days, there were ten CE presentations. Three of the presentations were done by our faculty and alumni.
OSU College of Pharmacy 2015 Outstanding Young Alumni recipient Amy Valdez, RPh (’99) gave an “Adolescent & Child Immunization Update” to discuss the immunization age change and the opportunity for pharmacists to partner collaboratively with other providers in advocating for fully vaccinating citizens across the lifespan.

Nancy Gadd, RPh (’86) gave a presentation on “Pediatric Transitions of Care.” Her talk gave attendees the opportunity to learn how to assess the current state of transitions of care in the pediatric population and evaluate the benefits and challenges to expansion of the role of pharmacists in transition of care.

Ali Olyaei, PharmD, Pharmacy Practice Professor at OSU College of Pharmacy, spoke about the “Management of Common Autoimmune Disease.” Another Pharmacy Practice Instructor from the College of Pharmacy, Lorinda Anderson, PharmD, alongside Fiona Karbowicz, RPh, from the Oregon Board of Pharmacy, gave an “Oregon Board of Pharmacy Update: Law and Contraceptives Implementation Update” to attendees.

OSU College of Pharmacy also hosted a booth at the event that was run by three of our P1 students, Jenny Neil, Katherine Rowland, and Kallie Waldrip, all due to graduate in 2019. They gave attendees information about upcoming events at the college, current CE programs the college is running, and spoke about their personal experiences with OSU College of Pharmacy.
