College welcomes P1s to Pharmacy Profession at the White Coat Ceremony

Thursday October 3rd marked the College of Pharmacy’s 13th Annual White Coat Ceremony.  Held at the CH2M Hill Alumni center in Corvallis, faculty and guests joined together to welcome the incoming PharmD Class of 2017 to the profession of pharmacy.

The Class of 2017 has 83 students, 70% of whom are native Oregonians.  The class is comprised of 47 women and 36 men with an average age of 25.

This year’s White Coat Ceremony featured guest speaker and recent CoP alumna, Abby Floeter (’13) who shared insights from her own journey through pharmacy school and the value of continued learning after graduation.  Students also had the opportunity to hear from Steve Keen, RPh, representing the event sponsor, Albertsons Sav-On Pharmacy.  Each of the new PharmD students received their first professional white coat from a member of the College’s faculty marking their entrance into the profession of pharmacy.  Students also were led in the Pledge of Professionalism by Student Executive Council President Patrick Brown, P2.

Faculty members assist students in donning their white coats for the first time.

The College gives special thanks to Albertsons Sav-On Pharmacy for their generous sponsorship of this event and to all who attended in support of the Class of 2017.
