OSU’s Dr. Matt Ito is one of four National Lipid Association faculty who worked on the USAGE (Understanding Statin use in America and Gaps in Education) cholesterol survey project involving more than 10,100 statin users, the largest known U.S. cholesterol survey. According to NLA, “USAGE provided a detailed picture of patient attitudes regarding high cholesterol and various treatment approaches, including lifestyle changes and statins.” In a June media campaign, the results of the survey were announced in a series of TV and radio interviews across the nation by NLA member Eliot Brinton, MD and TV personality John O’Hurley, one of 71 million Americans diagnosed with high cholesterol.
