Regulatory Pharmaceutical Fellowship Program

General Position Description:

The Regulatory Pharmaceutical Fellowship in Drug Information is a two-year, learning based program designed to train pharmacists for careers in government, academia, or the pharmaceutical industry.  The fellow will spend a 9-month rotation at the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) (Silver Spring, MD); a 9-month rotation at Eli Lilly and Company (Indianapolis, IN); and a 6-month rotation with Purdue University School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (Indianapolis, IN).  Deliverables include a research project completed at each training site summarizing experiences gained, a teaching portfolio, a continuing education presentation, and an individualized regulatory project.  Chosen candidates will have various educational experiences in cross-functional departments and have opportunities to publish articles and/or give presentations.  Qualified candidates must be a graduate from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy, or otherwise eligible for licensure, prior to the start of the fellowship term.

The Fellowship begins July 2012 and continues until June 2014, with a competitive annual stipend and benefits.

Drug Information Residency at University of Kansas Hospital

The University of Kansas Hospital offers an ASHP-accredited PGY-2 specialty residency in drug information.  Both PGY-1 and PGY-2 candidates can apply to the program.  PGY-1 candidates would complete the University of Kansas Hospital’s PGY-1 pharacy practice residency then begin the PGY-2 residency in drug information. PGY-2 candidates who have completed a PGY-1 residency at another institution would directly begin the specialty residency.

Pharmacists completing the residency will be competent practitioners of drug information in multiple health care environments.  They will also be equipped to meet the challenges of current and guture pharacy practice including promotion of optimal drug therapy and education of other health care professionals, patients, and the community on drug related topics.

Visit our program’s booth (#4438) during the residency showcase at the ASHP Midyear meeting on Monday December 5 from 1:00 to 4:30 pm.  We will also be participating in PPS (mailbox #1557).  Applications for the program should be received by Saturday, December 31.
