Alumni of OSU College of Pharmacy!
Exciting things are happening at the college. Our P4 (4th year PharmD students) are preparing to graduate on June 10th. They are completing their last professional rotations, are spiffing up their resumes and are headed out to join our professional ranks! Please welcome them, offer them advice on making important professional connections and offer to introduce them to colleagues. These young pharmacists are exceptionally well prepared to step into professional life with strong clinical, personal and practical skills. These are some of the brightest and best, and you will be proud to count them among the alumni of Oregon State University.
Several prominent alumni have recently returned to “Room 305” to share their wisdom and sage advice with our P1 and P2 classes, including Michele Belcher, Diana Courtney, Jackson Leong, Dave Lewis and Kate James.
Kate shared her compelling story of determination. Kate, as a new pharmacist, had a dream of building a practice based entirely on compounding prescriptions for her patients. She told an inspiring story of those pharmacists like Heather Wilson and Mike Beck who provided her with the mentorship and encouragement to reach her goals.
Dave Lewis and Jackson Leong provided a dynamic and meaningful glimpse into the world of Long Term Care and Geriatric Pharmacy practice. The students were captivated and excited by the picture painted by our alums of clinical interventions, making a difference in patient’s lives and continued opportunity in this career field.
Business ownership and entrepreneurship were the center-point for the message carried into the classroom by alums Diana Courtney and Michele Belcher. These two inspired ongoing conversations among students who are now on a trajectory toward seeking greater understanding of business models and how that fits into their scope of future pharmacy practice!
If any of you plan to be in the Corvallis area, please let me know. I would be thrilled to welcome you back to campus and our students would love to meet you in person!
Warmest regards,
