Editor’s Note: Football player Aaron Nichols will be a P1 in the College of Pharmacy in the fall. See the headines he’s been making!

PHILOMATH — Aaron Nichols held one of Casey Bowen’s tiny leg braces in his hand; it was covered with “angry beaver” and “OS” logos. The former Oregon State University wide receiver examined the leg brace carefully before proclaiming:

“If you put some cleats on these things, you could play receiver.”

Nichols, along with OSU tight end Joe Halahuni and quarterback Ryan Katz gave Casey an early birthday present Thursday morning when they visited Pediatric Therapy Professionals and presented Casey with an autographed Beavers football. It included the signatures of OSU coach Mike Riley, wide receiver James Rodgers and running back Jacquizz Rodgers.

Casey, who turns four Saturday, has received physical therapy at Pediatric Therapy Professionals since he was six months old. He was born with cerebral palsy.

Casey cannot speak or walk, but he had no problem expressing his enthusiastic “Beaver fever.” In addition to the Beaver logos on his leg braces, his wheelchair is painted orange and black.
