Started to Really Put Together Things This Week
I think most of the planning (concept art) should be finished save for the seance concept art our composer is interested in. I’ll need to work on that, but for now I’m arranging stuff in Unity for my team. I’m learning more about NavMesh and how it can help our pathfinding and random movement needs.
A lot of what I put on Standup Discussion #2 would have been repeated here, so I’ll talk about some other stuff on my mind instead. I also finished my physical therapy for my injured Achilles tendon, so that’s nice!
Tasks Accomplished: Week 4
| Technical Tasks | Art Tasks |
| Tested player interaction with environment (basically making sure the player can run around on our island with ramps) | Created last secondary character |
| Created character rig diagrams | Drew modeling sheets of all ghost peppurr species |
| Looked at Unity’s NavMesh feature for better pathfinding | Came to an agreement with our game music composer |
| Worked on scaling the world (will help with better NavMesh tuning) |
Some Art Talk
…having to do with NFTs since it’s been on my mind. I’ve been hesitant to share the more polished art I’ve done for my capstone project outside of class because of the increasingly high number of thefts unless I slam a bunch of watermarks on top of low res images. A larger collaboration I was a part of was stolen late last year, and it was pretty weird to see someone claiming my art, as small as it was, as theirs.
I tried this out on some personal art and while I don’t like how it looks, it seems like a good deterrent from people minting it without my knowing. I’m also unsure of minting everything I draw myself, if I want to really mint them in the first place. I’m still working on learning about the concept of the blockchain and its impact before I make a decision on that.
That Being Said…
Here’s the supporting cast. I put together this image with some brief descriptions of them for our voice actors and actresses. I heard they think they’re really cute!

I also did a speed painting of my Quest 2 controller. It has a cool holographic vinyl cover. 🙂

Finally, it’s programming time.
