Hard to Focus with What’s Going On

Tasks I had to do, namely my Mobile Development project, designing my mom’s birthday cake, and working on my Capstone contributions slowly… they are/were all doable, and I finished them. A war that was looming became a reality. It’s taken a very small toll on me, but how I’m feeling can’t compare to the people of Ukraine at all. As gruesome as it is, I am thankful that photos, videos, and stories of the war are going viral. We need to know how devastating this is. I’ve spent time between homework to follow what’s been happening and try to educate myself about the issues at hand. I wish for peace and success for Ukraine.

The Cake Wasn’t a Lie

On a lighter note, my mom’s birthday is also this week. In my immediate family, my job is decorating everyone’s birthday cakes (including mine if I want to!). Mom loves to scrapbook, so her cake this year will be scrapbook-themed.

My sister baked the cake and covered it in fondant for me, and I hope to make paper decorations and print photos, then attach them using food-grade parchment paper and buttercream. Mom doesn’t like frosting, so I figured this would be a good alternative (and she can scrapbook the decorations afterwards :D).

Gonna do those paper decorations tonight now that my Mobile Development project is done.

Short slice of life cake blog this week, time for me to help grind out our game.
