Week 5- Typical vs. Maximal Performance

If I was in the position of this business owner, I would have a few contextual questions before I would be able to answer the first question. They would be, how often would the role push the employees to their limit? And is there space to make the position more challenging for a potential employee like Avery?

Going off of the information given, it is hard to pick with certainty who to hire. But I would have to choose Jaime. I tried to make the position a generalised role that would have times of pressure where the employees are pushed to their limits, but overall most of the time would be spent doing typical work. Making Jaime the best fit due to his reliability.

A job I think Avery would be best for is high pressure, so she is constantly being pushed to her limit, and it is being reinforced when she is working at her potential. This could potentially be a position that offers commission for sales or bonuses. This job means that Avery is more often reaching her maximal performance, which is much higher than Jaime’s, making her the better employee choice.

Yet a job that is better for Jamie is the one that is more low risk and less pressure as he will consistently produce good work when not being pushed to be at maximal effort. This type of role would make him better than Avery, as he works at a better standard when not being constantly tested.
