Week 4- Critiquing a Recruitment Ad

I would describe myself as a hard-working, disciplined athlete. My strengths lie in my ability to lead and listen to others and work with them to be successful in our common goals. I have done this using a variety of characteristics, including organisation, time management, communication and commitment. Though I have these strengths, I am not perfect and have my own set of weaknesses. My biggest is my lack of professional working experience due to the time commitment that being a student-athlete has demanded. Though I can say this lack of experience is a weakness, I think the experiences I have had while being an athlete will undoubtedly be invaluable in my transition into my career.

I think this could be communicated via a creative situation wanted ad. I would use graphics, colour and different fonts to make sure my ad stands out over the others. I believe this is the most excellent way due to the roles I am currently interested in. I want to work in events management and coordination. These roles will require creativity, so I see this as a great way to show my strengths. In the ad, I would try to show my uniqueness in being an athlete, and hopefully, the image of an athlete will be able to portray the strengths I have. Alongside graphics, I would also include a small paragraph saying something like, recently graduated business management student-athlete, former team captain of the Oregon State Women’s Rowing Team and member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Excellent communication and organisational skills with experience in customer service. I am looking for a job in events coordination. Interested employers may contact me at XXX-XXX-XXXX.
