Week 3- Job Descriptions

I have only ever had one job. I was offered it without an interview and was only doing it for a short period on the side of full-time training. So I had never read a job description for a job I had until much more recently when I began looking for jobs when I graduate.

Though I have never had to for a job, I have for internships. The job description helped me decide between internships and even before I had offers, directing me to apply to one over another. In my most recent internship, the job description that I read when using was quite broad regarding the individualisation of the internship for each intern. Though it was broad, it was very similar to what I experienced while working, which surprised me due to the broadness of the job description. It differed in how the transitions between departments occurred; it was not as seamless to change departments as the job description had laid out. It also did not detail the process of needing to review each department when we finished working with them. Overall, it had more similarities than differences, making the role more enjoyable. If it had been the other way around, it could have been not very pleasant and not the job you originally applied for, for this mitigates the above point I made about how the job description depicts whether or not you apply for a role. If the position does not match the job description, then there is no point in the description in the first place.
