blog #5

As a teacher, a mother, a student, and a wife…so many roles at the same time, “busy” is my daily status. Time for me is like a treasure. Time management seems extremely important to me in this stage. In this blog, I would like to share my daily routine and some tips I think is pretty effective for time management.

Here is basically my daily routine. I work full time from 8am to 4pm. After 4pm, I pick up my son from daycare and back home preparing dinner for my family. It takes me about 40 minutes for cooking. After taking care of the kid and making him sleep. The clock point to 8. Around 8pm, I have the spare time that’s really for myself. Luckily, I can finish all my work during working time and don’t have to deal with that when I’m home. Strictly speaking, I only have 3 hours of block time every day to focus on my project and other studies.

Although the time is extremely tight, however, I can still find some time to meet with my friends, listen to music, read the book I like, and do some workouts during the week.

Here are some tips for my time management.

Make plan.

I usually make a rough plan for the whole month. Write down the important events and dates, assignments due, meetings, etc. Then I make a detailed plan every Sunday for the next coming week. The plan is very detailed for every single day. I always make sure to highlight the primary task and mark some unessential tasks as optional.

Prepare things ahead

Usually, I will start to think and consider and even start the task ahead when I get more time. Considering and planning things ahead makes me confident and can help to make things better.

Utilize fragment of time

Although I only have 3 hours of block time daily, I could still find some extra time to finish my task. For example, when I cook, I can listen to some videos basically talking about job interview experience, interview tips, etc. During my resting time during work, I can finish some simple tasks very quickly. Sometimes I will get up 30 minutes earlier to prepare for some important task. I realized that it is definitely possible for most of us to find some time during busy days.

Don’t forget to treat yourself

A movie, a song, a dating, a party with friends can always refresh my mind and give me more energy to work on my next challenge. Trying to find time to treat me can make a more powerful, and brand new me:).
