Blog Post #3

As we march toward the end of the term, there has been a tremendous amount of progress done toward our project. We have essentially completed all of the planning for the project and begun creating prototypes for the initial project. Each member of the group has been given a certain category to work on for the project. I was tasked with creating the planetary models with a focus on 3D scene management and the creation of Earth and the moon. There has been a lot of effort done trying to figure out the best means of using the planetary data that exists today.

I am currently using Blender, a 3D modeling software that enables a user to make amazing shapes and utilize many of the features to create cool textures that we could then import into our game engine Bevy. It has been challenging to create the very fine details that we would see on a planet like the mountains on earth and craters on the moon.

On the personal side of things, I was recently hired as a software engineer. The interview process consisted of multiple rounds consisting of technical and behavioral interviews. It was really interesting to see how companies conduct multiple rounds of interviews. It was nerve-racking but I am excited to have been chosen as the final candidate.
