Stress and Type A’ness

My life is lived on two complete ends of the spectrum. One being carefree and cruising, while the other requires full attention and demand every single day.

Seven months out of the year, I am chilling, doing light schoolwork, golfing, hiking, going to the beach, and hanging out with friends. The other five months, I work a door-to-door sales job while also helping lead a team, working 10am-9pm Monday-Saturday. On my Sundays, I am either doing online schoolwork or training other sales reps.

Currently, I am in the hard work season.

Although the results may say certain things, I don’t label myself as a stressed person. I just know the season I’m in requires me to be in order to succeed.

Action Steps

One significant act I can take to progress through my professional career to help me manage stress, is delegation. By building up and trusting in others to lead and manage, I am able to focus on how I can help move the team/company/organization I am in forward.

Companies are taking steps to lower employee’s stress levels. These include wellness programs, flexible scheduling, mental health benefits, etc.

Overall, I think it is important to manage stress. However, I’d say it’s even more important to have awareness around that stress and know when it can benefit you. When I’m in Corvallis or Hawaii, I am the most type B person ever, but when it comes to work, stress is what helps me perform and get things done.
