632-661 Rashidun Caliphate; this Caliphate was led by the “four rightly-guided caliphs” in the Sunni belief. Rashidun Caliphate oversaw Islamic Expansion of Islam into Middle East and North Africa.

661-750 Umayyad Dynasty, expanded and institutionalized Islam even further in Middle East, North Africa, West Africa, and Southeast Asia.

750 Abbasid Caliphate and Islamic Golden Age; breakthroughs in science, medicine, and documentation of information across cultures.

820 Abbasid Dynasty becomes fragmented, as regional powers emerge.

1096-1271 Crusades.
