Blog Post #2

With the initial planning phase of our project we discussed what our game development framework should be between working with native React or work with Phaser.js. I’ve never used a game development framework. I know that React allows us to make things more modular by breaking things up into components. My concern was whether Phaser component based as well as I had no ideal how we were to going to assign tasks for each people without it getting too complicated. React was something I thought about using as it is the framework that is widely used among the front end community, so there’s quite a bit of documentation already. React also allows for state flow and has hooks, and is component based making it easier to break up in a group setting. After doing some research, I thought it would be best if we use Phaser as doing react are pretty similar and my teammates are more comfortable working with Phaser. We also thought it might be a bit overkill to add react with Phaser so we are strictly just using Phaser. Overall it was a good decision as it was far easier to draw up our titleset then if we were to have used native react.

Closing thoughts for week 4, we made meaningful progress. We finally have our git hub repo up and running so everyone has been on point with their assigned tasks. The skeleton is already developed and we have a clear vision on how our project is structured.
