Let Me Introduce Myself…

Hello everyone!

My name is Aimee Bogle and I live in Southern California. I’m a senior studying Computer Science & Software Engineering at Oregon State University. Outside of school, I work full-time as a Flight Test Engineer for Lockheed Martin. I also own a photography/videography company.

When I’m not working or in school, I love to hike, backpack, kayak, rock climb, and surf. Anything that involves me being outdoors I love, I find it’s a great way to recharge before returning to the real world of adult responsibilities. I love photography and videography, I’ve shot six weddings this year, not to mention quite a bit of portraits and headshots! I also love to travel and see new places. This year I have been to Ireland, Scotland, and France, plus three trips to Canada as well!

My love for computers and anything tech-related started at an early age, mainly with video games and desktop computers. I remember being about 8 years old and sitting down at my family’s desktop computer, clicking around within the operating system (Windows XP for those of you that remember the beautiful grassy field), and trying to learn what everything did. Soon enough I became the “tech” person in the house, whenever something malfunctioned or my parents and siblings couldn’t figure out how to get it working I was the on-call person who would get to repair it and or provide of demo of proper usage. My love of technology and understanding of how things work has carried forward into my career and personal hobbies. Some of my favorite technologies are professional cameras! I have a Canon 5D Mark IV, which is a traditional DSLR, but I have also recently started to shoot with the Canon R5, which is part of the new mirrorless line of professional cameras from Canon. In addition to following camera technologies, I’m also invested in new drone technologies as well. I use a DJI Mavic 3 CINE drone for aerial photography and video, and I love reading and discovering new advancements in drone technology.

I just started my senior year at OSU, and as such, I am embarking on my senior capstone project journey. There were some interesting project options to choose from, but two caught my eye. The first one was working to complete a website for a company called Rugged Thread, which offers services to repair and repurpose outdoor gear in hopes to reduce waste. The other project was working with the National Forest Service to develop an equipment tracking application for wildfire response.

I chose to work on the project with the National Forest Service (NFS) continuing development of the application Ops Normal, which will help wildland firefighters in the process of drafting equipment estimates for new wildfires and expedite response times. This project really spoke to me personally because of my love for the outdoors, but also being a California resident I have seen firsthand the destruction caused by wildfires. I’m honored to be able to provide services to the National Forest Service and hope my contributions can help the agency in some small way.

Setting out on this exciting and challenging journey, I’m looking forward to learning more about wildfire response and seeing how I can improve this tool that the NFS uses. I’m also excited to get to know my team members as we prepare to spend the next 9 months developing this technology for our NFS customers. I hope that you’ll join us on this journey!
