Coping with Stress

After taking the 3 tests, I was very surprised to know that I have great coping and skills management skills but also a high irritability and impatience level. As I was going through the tests and really thinking about the questions it made me realize that I do have type A qualities when it comes to my work and others around me. I always thought I was type B simply because I am pretty laid back in my personal life.

When it comes to workplace skills, I already have healthy coping habits such as working out, journaling, therapy and making boundaries. Learning to set healthy boundaries in the workplace with either my co workers or myself has helped me limit my workload and also limit how much external stress I take on from my co workers which has led to an increase in intentional productivity. Therapy is something that I have as an ongoing practice as an unbiased outlet which has led to the development of these boundaries but I am noticing workplaces are investing in therapy, other mental health programs and employee assistance programs then making them easily accessible to their employees. My company offers these programs and have seen a drop in call outs and an increase in retention especially during the busy peak season.

I did notice that there were a lot of questions focusing on how I allow stress to affect my sleep and I realized that I am getting enough sleep hours wise but stress may be the reason i am waking up still feeling tired and worn during the busy months. I may look into ways to relieve that area while continuing to have a flexible work schedule that allows me to rest while also being productive. Many workplaces allow for flexible workplace accommodations which include working from home options which is a great way to entice and support employees. Overall I found the tests to be very helpful and allowed me to pinpoint areas that I should focus on in order to avoid burn out.
