Beneficial Class:
I am currently taking a class right now called Influence and Negotiation, which I find incredibly beneficial. What makes this class so beneficial is the impact on negotiation performance that I will have by the time the class is over. I already have learned so much about how to be an effective negotiator in the 6 weeks I have been in the class. The type of training this class utilizes is interpersonal and problem solving training, like we talked about in the learning materials for class this week. We utilize this training approach by teaming up with different partners every class and are given a skit that we have to negotiate and come to a mutual agreement that solves the conflict at stake for both parties.
Non-Beneficial Class:
A non beneficial class that I have taken includes the BA 411-413 series of 1 credit classes. I feel these classes are non-beneficial due to the fact that they seem almost like a waste of time. They barely have any assignments, and the assignments that they have only ask you to type a paragraph about what the class will be about for that week. These classes seem to not have any DESIGN/goals which we learned about in class this week. There is no quality or level of acceptable performance needed from the students taking this class which makes it uninteresting, and not very structured. Another aspect of DEVELOP like we learned about in class that this class is lacking is how to evaluate the training. There is no final for this class or any meaningful assignments, therefore there is no evaluation of the materials we learned.
