American Society for Mass Spectrometry (ASMS) 73RD Conference

We had another successful year at the ASMS conference, which was held in Baltimore, Maryland. Our lab was proud to be selected for two oral presentations and one poster presentation.
Federica delivered an oral presentation titled “Identification of bioactive Yucca schidigera saponins via LC-MS and machine learning for antimicrobial applications in animal health“. Elizabeth also gave an oral presentation: “MS/MS Spectra Comparison of Cannabinoids Using Collision-Induced Dissociation (CID) and Electron-Activated Dissociation (EAD)“. Dr. Choi presented a poster on “Enhanced structural elucidation of conjugated xanthohumol metabolites with electron activated dissociation“.
We also had a great turnout at the annual OSU community reunion dinner. This event allows current and former students, postdocs, and professors to reconnect and catch up. This year’s gathering was especially memorable as we had a special guest, Dr. Andries Bruins, Dr. Stevens’ Ph.D advisor, who joined us all the way from the Netherlands!

Dr. Stevens was among several Oregon State University faculty members recognized by the OSU Foundation at its annual Faculty Excellence Dinner on May 7. Honorees included new holders of endowed faculty positions, new fellows, and OSU’s new Distinguished Professor, Melissa Cheyney. Dr. Stevens is currently LPI’s Associate Director of Research and a professor in OSU’s College of Pharmacy. He joined the Institute in 2002. The Ava Helen Pauling Chair position was named in honor of Dr. Linus Pauling’s wife because of her great importance to him, his career, and their work opposing nuclear testing and promoting world peace. The endowed chair position was first held by Dr. Joe Beckman, beginning in 2001, and was most recently held by Dr. Maret Traber.
