There is controversy surrounding this issue. Due to the industry and location where these wasps are released, chemical use is common. Even though Spalangia wasps are effective parasites, they are still fragile organisms. Some individuals believe they should not be used in a production aspect. They are contained and sold, which activists believe is morally wrong.
When Spangalia wasps are used, just like other animals, chemicals and insecticides are harmful to them. Therefore, if chemical treatment is required, Spalangia wasps should not be introduced into those areas. The insects can be harmed if being used in conjunction.
