vCenter migration 10:00 – 22:00 Saturday February 7th

We will be migrating our existing VM hosts to a new vCenter server from 10am-10pm Saturday February 7th.  This will not impact running VMs nor your ability to RDP or SSH into the VM.

During the maintenance both the current and new vCenters will be active in the event you need to manage a VM (console, power on/off, etc).  However, you will need to check both as the VM may have moved.  The URLs for the vCenters during the maintenance are listed below.  At the conclusion of the maintenance the active URL of the new vCenter will be the same as the current vCenter.

Temporary new vcenter: https://vcenter2.sig.oregonstate.edu

Adding vlan 3820 Nov 11th

We will be working with NOC to add vlan 3820 to our blade enclosures ports. This will be done to one  datacenter  at a  time.

HP 2910al-24g switch firmware

** Maintenance Announcement – No service interruption anticipated **

We will be applying a firmware update to our iSCSI switches that support our StoreVirtual SAN. This is the storage network that back’s our VMware infrastructure.

We do not anticipate any service interruption. Our switching is redundant, we will only change the switches one at a time, and the changes should not be service interrupting.

apply update 5.51a to fix HeartBleed

VMware released a update to fix the openSSL library so I will be appling that update May 3, 2014 at 9:00pm This means vcenter web client will not be available during this upgrade.  Scheduling 1.5 hours to be on the safe side.

Restarting Vcenter Services

I will be restarting vcenter services Saturday the 26th of April from 9:00pm to 9:30pm the webclient will not be available. Were working with EMC was part of the process.

LeftHand OS 10.5 drive firmware update

** Maintenance Announcement – NO service interruption anticipated **

We are upgrading our StoreVirtual individual hard drive firmware.

Production and Dev SANs are redundant and maintenance will have no noticeable effect on these SANs, meaning that the OSU systems used by students, staff, and faculty will not experience a service interruption.

Upgrading Vcenter to version 5.5

On Saturday March 29th at 10:00pm until completed we will be upgrading our vcenter software to version 5.5. This will make the vcenter web client unavailable for about a 1.5 hours.

NetScaler maintenance firmware upgrade.

** Maintenance Announcement – No service interruption anticipated **

On Saturday March 29th at 10pm we will be upgrading the Netscalers to maintenance build of  version 10.1.  Since they are in HA mode no outages or downtime are expected.  In the unlikely event of problems, changes will be rolled back and the maintenance will be scheduled for a later date.
