Hello (future) world!

  January 11th, 2024

Hello current and future coders!

My name is Kristy Waters and I LOVE coding.

I have spent the past two years learning all about Computer Science, and it is awesome!  While some classes (Operating Systems) have been harder than others (Intro to Computer Science) for me, I have truly enjoyed my learning adventure.

As cliche as it might sound, coding is my passion. I love planning and creating programs with clarity and efficiency in mind.  In fact, I love coding so much, that I solve practice problems in my down time (usually while watching TV).

This new path has taken me to the Florida Panhandle where I have been writing software code that runs on robots for a university research lab.

One of my projects is about using Magnetic Sensors to navigate — it is interesting to work on things that have never been done before.

Another project that I work on allows a drone to track a ground robot automatically with my team’s code. Most of our projects use ROS (Robotic Operating System) and the code is written in the Python & C++ coding languages.

This quarter in school, I will be embarking on a group Capstone project and look forward to sharing my experiences with you. In addition to project development insights, I will also be sharing my progress and thought processed as I work through challenge problems — not only are they fun, but they help me improve as a software developer as well!  It is my goal that those who are interested might get an insight into the software development process and key coding insights!

Come along with me and learn what it is like to develop software, write clean and efficient code, and become a software developer!

Peace out coders!

-Kristy
