Experiences with Discrimination

Company culture and values are just as important to me as the job itself to me. As a Human Resources professional, ethics, laws, and culture are always my primary focus in my role. If my favorite company was to face a public lawsuit where they were accused of widespread discrimination against others, I would be deeply disappointed. My opinions of the company would absolutely change. To me, regardless of what product of service a company can produce, it is only a good company if the members inside the organization are treated ethically. As an HR, this type of lawsuit would absolutely influence my decision to not apply to work for that company. This tells me that there are deeply routed problems with the company’s culture, code of conduct expectations, ethics training programs, reporting & no-retaliation policies and many other processes. This would not want to be a company I would want to be apart of and I definitely would not want my name associated with representing that behavior.
