Who Am I?

I decided to take the shorter personality test since I was very busy this week and pressed for time. For the 120 questions asked, I answered them as truthfully and honestly as possible in relation to how I perceive myself. According to the five broad personality domains of the Five-Factor Model, I scored relatively accurate to what I would consider myself. For the “Extraversion” domain, my score was high indicating that I am social and like to be around people. My “Agreeableness” is low meaning that I consider my needs before my own, meaning that people see me as tough and critical. My “Conscientiousness” is average, meaning I am reasonably reliable and organized. My “Neuroticism” is also average which indicates that my level of emotion is the same as the general public. Lastly, my “Openness to Experience” is low which means I typically like things plain and simple and to the point. It also means that people see me as down-to-earth and practical.

If a potential employer were to look at my results, they would get a pretty good picture of who I am both as a person and an employee. They would see that I am outgoing, that I like routine and I can be tough when it comes down to a serious situation. I do well under pressure and high stress situations I can handle with little to no emotions getting in the way. While I tend to put my needs before others, I think at this stage in life it is important to do so. All of us who are about to graduate and step into the workforce have a lot of decisions to be made within the next few months, and if you don’t put your needs before others now then who knows what road you will begin to go down. That may seem harsh to some people, but no wonder my “Agreeableness” is low! Since these are all of the strengths that an employer will see from my test results, let’s see what my weaknesses are. Since I am tough according to this test, I am uncompromising which can be a negative thing in a work setting. A lot of the time I will be working with different people and I will need to compromise with others to agree on something and get it done.
