Consistency Is Key

If I were a business owner, I would choose to hire Jaime. With consistency comes reliability. If I were to hire Avery, she is extremely unreliable and I tend to find that disrespectful at times. They should come to work and want to perform to the best of their ability every time. For Jaime, having “pretty good results” every single time she shows up to work, in my eyes, is better than hiring someone who is a slacker. That is one of the worst qualities in an employee to me. While Avery can be a top performer employee when she is at her best, how could I be sure when that day is if I actually needed her.

A type of job where it would be better to hire someone like Avery would be for a low-stress job. If it is a position that is more laid back and performance does not matter as much, that is when it would be more valuable to hire Avery over Jaime. If Avery comes in every day and slacks off and doesn’t seem to care much about what she is doing, then she would definitely fit better in a job that requires little to no stress. Vice versa, Jaime would fit well in a position that requires stress. If I were a business owner, I would need someone I could rely on, making Jaime more valuable in my eyes as opposed to Avery. An example of this would be if I were hiring an assistant manager. As an assistant manager, if I were to hire someone like Avery I would find myself getting very frustrated. If I can’t trust that she comes into work every day trying her best, then I would rather have someone like Jaime who I can count on.
