For this class, I really wanted to challenge myself by trying a project that I’ve never done before. In my other classes, I’ve only worked on full stack web applications with a focus on JavaScript, HTML/CSS, Flask, and SQL. They’ve all been similar applications where a person would go onto the website and enter some sort of information. For this class, I was placed in the cross application app which allowed users to read random social topics and anonymously comment on them.
I’ve never worked on an app before which made me very excited. For the app, my group decided to use React Native which is one of the most popular frameworks in the world. Personally, I was also interested in Flutter, but at the end of the day, it didn’t really matter which framework we used.
Reading the documentation and watching tutorials was very fun. Before going into the program, front end development always interested me so getting experience in front end with this project is super exciting. For our project’s midpoint, I specifically took look in creating our homepage and giving ideas for our UI. I wanted to put extra effort since I’ve never done anything like this before. That being said, I’m not React Native expert yet, but I’m still learning to do this day on how to properly improve my coding. I’m super excited to bridge the back end with our project and to continue our UI as the class moves forward!
