Adi Tatarko: Co founder and CEO of Houzz

Adi Tatarko, the CEO and co-founder of the website Houzz, was born in Israel. She grew up in a progressive household and society very similar to that of the European countries such as France. Both her mother and grandmother were working women who balanced their familial responsibilities and their careers. Tatarko created the site after she and her husband kept running into difficulties renovating their own home.

The online photo database was started in 2006 after she realized no one else on the internet had been able to accomplish such a task. Originally a weekend project, Houzz quickly grew to need more time and money, which Tatarko provided with a cautious approach. Her top priority was to make sure the site wasn’t intimidating and was easy to use. Houzz grew to become one of the most successful home renovation websites available.

She currently lives in Silicon Valley with her husband and her two sons. I would be very interested in interviewing her because she focuses on what would be perfect for her customer, not what would make the most profit. I would additionally like to ask her about growing up in a newly progressive country like Israel, and if there are any challenges she has faced or faces daily.
