The most important thing that I learned was the modern issues with employee recruitment and selection. This is because I truly did not realize how big of a problem this was until this class. I knew that there were issues with it because of the ever changing world, but did not realize how bad it was. It is a problem with technology changes, skills shortage and economy changes. There was a perspective of this that I never really thought about, or at least was ignorant to because I truly did not think much about these things. I knew technology changes and economic changes were impactful, but I had thought most technology changes were for the better. Economic changes, I did not believe they were necessarily for the better, but did not fully grasp how it played a role. This is something that I also opened my mind too because I am going to be looking into the workforce and knowing these issues is helpful.
This feels the most important to me for a couple of reasons. The first being that I am going to be looking for my career job and knowing the modern issues is important. I have seen many social media posts about how bad the job market is, but did not really understand why. It helps knowing there are reasons such as technology because then it helps to know what the reasons technology is not helpful. Recruitment and selection does not always make sense, but it is good to have an understanding of it. Another reason why this is important is because I am looking to go into human resources analytics or just human resources for a career. Since I am going into a job where recruitment and selection is prevalent, it is helpful that I have an understanding of what is happening in that specific area. Overall, I found this topic the most important and interesting because it directly affects me and knowing what is happening is beneficial.
