My Journey Throughout Computer Science

Hi! My name is Rebecca, and I got started with computers because of my time throughout COVID. I was originally a surgical nurse and got put throughout a lot of experiences, mostly on the traumatic and terrifying side, as a new graduate nurse throughout COVID that made me re-evaluate what I wanted to do with my life.

I decided to take a few free coding classes, and made the switch to CS with this program! I started classes back in 2021 and here I am now! Thus far, I have done a software engineering internship at Zillow working with ChatGPT and various backend frameworks. I have accepted a new graduate software engineer job as well this upcoming summer, and hope to continue working with backend development.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my experience at OSU working with wonderful students and professors alike. My favorite classes have been: Computer Architecture and Assembly, Data Structures, and Intro to Parallel Programming. In addition, one of my favorite activities to do to distract myself from work is to play videogames with friends and draw.

I’m excited for my journey through capstone and my career in the future!
