My dream is to be able to travel the world, one vacation at a time. Some of my family are well on their way to making this happen and I want to be one of them. I want to calculate what my income would have to be for me to be able to take three weeks each year and travel to different countries all the time. I would love to know what this is going to cost me.
The Gender Lens project has a lot of research to do and, strangely, I am looking forward to it. I work with children everyday and I always notice that boys gravitate towards the Lego sets, so I am very interested to learn about the marketing and technology that went into Lego.
For my cultural research project I have been wanting to research Hedy Lamarr. She is the inventor of WiFi and she is from Germany. From what I have read so far she escaped a nazi loving husband in Germany with her mother and fled to Paris, later she moved to Hollywood and became a movie star. She loved math her whole life which led her to invent some of the main components of WiFi, which is basically using radio signals to control things. She sounds like a very interesting woman and I am looking forward to doing more research on her.

This here is my first ever blog post. I have to say, my favorite part about this is that I get to write how I talk, not professionally, and it is coming straight from my head, and not from research. Setting up this blog was so much easier than I expected. I feel like Oregon State is great at making things easy for students. All I had to do was log in and type my name twice. It doesn’t get much easier than that. Navigating the WordPress site is fairly simple for me so far, and I’ve enjoyed poking around.
Setting up my email signature was also very simple for me, but mostly because I have done it many times before. If I hadn’t done it before it might have even been more complicated than starting my own blog, however.
Listening to webpages has been something that I have done in the past in order to forgo the reading portion of some assignments. I learned then that I very much dislike it. I like to read and learn at my own pace and I think that I don’t absorb as much information as I do when I just read it myself.
