Discrimination in Hiring

Hiring strangers can make the most competent people look like they have no idea what they are doing, those hiring default to instinctual decision-making processes known as voodoo hiring, which can land that person in hot water. Messing up the hiring process can have great consequences for the company as a whole, so whether or not the decision to hire someone was seen as fair by the company internally, someone could always take it the wrong way. If a favorite company of mine was embroiled in a situation like this, to even have an accusation leveled towards them would damage their credibility in my, as well as everyone else’s eyes. The public image of a company is by far the most important aspect of the brand to maintain, and any hits to this reputation will prove to be disastrous. However, this is not the complete end of the world, as there needs to be an investigation process to see what could have possibly happened. I would personally still hold out hope for the company based on the level of the accusation, as well as what the investigation itself turns up. Based on how the investigation goes overall, I would probably still apply to the company if they have shown to reform their image, or that the case of discrimination was simply an oversight by the hiring team. The practices of voodoo hiring are known as the old ways of hiring employees, and as previously stated, managers can fall into this pattern of behavior but can be educated about why these practices are wrong.
