Taking the three surveys that were provided to us for this week’s blog post, I learned that I am moderately stressed, a mix of type A and B personality, and received a total of 160 for the written document portion. I don’t think any of the results shocked me and I didn’t really learn more about myself as a person since I was aware of these traits. I wouldn’t say that I am generally a stressed person or have any underlying stress currently but according to the results I do. I feel that these surveys may not be the best representation of a person and how they are currently doing but still help show you certain things about yourself. Ultimately, I’ve taken surveys like this before but don’t think that it’s the best way to identify problems or traits of a person.
As I progress through my professional career, I think that I can manage stress by giving myself things to do outside of work and not always focus on it. I think that people who are generally stressed about work don’t give themselves time with other things. I think that this doesn’t help them as a person or in their professional lives. I’ve heard that people in their professional lives forget to take time off and eventually are ‘forced’ to take it because they gather too much time. I think that this isn’t good for someone and this needs to be addressed. Ultimately, what I am going to do is manage by stress by taking time for myself.
There isn’t any research about this information I know but a company that one of my friends will be working for post-graduation (Fortis Construction) provides a bonus per year to their employees simply for hobbies. I think that this incentivizes employees to pick up hobbies or take time for themselves outside of work which helps manage their stress levels which is good.
